BJ’s BAD, Super Target GOOD- New Organics & Healthy Products!

You may have read in my last post that I am not thrilled with Publix right now.  I’m not shopping there for a while, so I decided to try BJ’s Club, which has recently advertised that they carry organic products.

Well, not so much.  If BJ’s thinks what they have now constitutes a lot of organic products, they must have had NOTHING at all before.  It was a total waste of my time.

I didn’t find a thing I wanted, and yes, I did see the organic sugar and their measley little display of processed products that would be silly to buy organic.  Costco is still the wholesale club champion where organic and gluten-free products are concerned, but that is a topic for another blog post.

Since our trip to BJ’s Club was a total bust, I decided to head out to Super Target with Concetta in tow.  No small task, considering that it was Saturday and I’d already wasted an hour checking out BJ’s Club.  At least it was the Sanford/Lake Mary location which is a little calmer than most.

I used to try and buy some of my more expensive grocery items at Super Target and Wal-Mart Super Center, but they carried so few products it wasn’t really worth my time driving to several stores.  That was about a year ago.

Super Target Produce Department

I was happy to see that Super Target has dramatically improved their offerings of organic, natural, and allergy-free products!  For example, last time I was there they literally did not carry one single organic or vegan “dairy” product in the entire store.

Here is a list of products I was thrilled to find.  Unfortunately, Targets grocery receipts are very generic, so I won’t be able to tell you what all the prices were.

Even the prices that were not a great deal lower still saved me a trip to a 2nd store just because Target finally carries the items!  Huge advantage for this Mama!  Plus all the regular items cost so much less than Publix that the overall savings in my final weekly grocery bill were significant.

Tinkyada GF Brown Rice Pasta – $3.69

Vans GF Blueberry Waffles – $2.89

Sunbutter Sunflower Spread

Earth Balance

Silk Soy Coffee Creamer – $1.39

Silk Coconut Milk  – $2.99 (Great price!)

Amy’s Gluten Free AND Dairy Free Kids Frozen Dinners – $3.24  (These are $6 elsewhere!)

Wolfgang Puck Organic Soup

Organic Strawberries – $2.99 (These are $5.99 elsewhere!)

Organic Butter

Organic Greek Yogurt

Larabar

Luna Bar

Organic Carrots

Organic Romaine

Organic Apples (out of stock, but they carry them.)

Pineapple – $3.49 (These are $5.99 elsewhere!)

I don’t remember what the following items were, but I have them listed on my receipt as:  Organic $1.49, Organic $3.49, Organic $1.79, Organic $2.04.

I don’t buy these, but I noticed they are also carrying organic juice boxes and the Jammy Sammy snack and drink products.  There were also other items I was excited to see that I didn’t need this week, but I forgot what they were!

Just about the only key item I didn’t find was Gluten Free bread.  The Udi is still $5.99 at Chamberlin’s or Publix.  I’m not complaining though.  I saved a ton of money and I will definitely be back at Super Target next shopping trip!
